  2. Surely you’re going to Shingakuin and Ginkaku-ji and of course Kinkaku-ji. Did I tell you I met Crown Prince Akishino when I went to Kyoto to help inaugurate Stanford’s campus there? I think it’s still there… He looks about 18 but I think he was 24 or so. The visit was very very tightly scripted—down to seconds, which he completely ignored because he had so much fun talking to the Stanford students!

    You still haven’t taken a picture of a rice ball for me!
